2023 ISSUES:
1/2023 - MATRIDONAL REMEDIES
Pregnancy and birth decisively impact a person’s life. A foetus experiences everything that the mother goes through during the pregnancy, and her emotional state is continually transmitted to the growing baby. Traumatic experiences in the entire process from conception to breastfeeding therefore have considerable effects on the young baby’s relationships and attitude to life, leaving traces that can extend right through into adulthood. The matridonal remedies are an excellent way of resolving such issues. It is therefore worth examining this remedy group in more detail and using it in our own practice. The matridonal remedies originate from healthy human tissue with a connection to pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. The core of this remedy group consists of: Placenta humana, Chorda umbilicalis, Amni liquor and Vernix caseosa. In addition there are the potentised hormones Oxytocinum and Folliculinum as well as human breast milk. The remedy pictures of these sarcodes overlap considerably and the crux is how to differentiate them. With this issue we want to give our readers a guide to the practical use of these valuable remedies.
2/2023 - FISH REMEDIES
Remedies derived from marine animals such as Spongia, Sepia or Corallium rubrum have long been part of our treasure chest of homeopathic remedies. Most of these classical sea remedies come from invertebrates (see SPECTRUM 3/2021) or marine mammals (see SPECTRUM 2/2022), whereas fish have so far been neglected in the materia medica. This has changed in the last few years thanks to a range of provings and new clinical experience. The result has been a leap forward in the use of potentised substances from the fish group. These are particularly useful for people who live in their own world, resulting in communication problems with the outside world. The pattern of typical themes and symptoms of fish remedies can correspond to such varied clinical indications as dementia and autism spectrum disorders. Drawing on clinical cases, our international authors will discuss the common characteristics of this remedy group, presenting a range of lesser known remedies from Amphiprion percula (clownfish) to Betta splendens (Siamese fighting fish). With this edition, SPECTRUM completes its materia medica of the vertebrates.
3/2023 - MEN'S COMPLAINTS
“Men are so sensitive”, sings Herbert Grönemeyer, and: “Men have a rough ride but take it easy, they’re hard on the outside but really soft inside”. In this clinical issue we look at how and where men are sensitive, and which type of vulnerability emerges from their sex and hormones as well as their specific imprinting. The topic is not just erectile dysfunction or other benign physical urogenital complaints. The common potency problems have a strong psychosocial component, frequently expressing overload, burn-out and depression. Pressure to achieve, risk-taking behaviour and a lack of competence in health matters means that men are more prone to certain illnesses. The epitome of this is executive burnout. As Grönemeyer said: “Men get a heart attack, men are lonesome fighters, crashing through every wall, ever onwards”. Using clinical examples, we want to show how masculine behaviour patterns and attitudes favour particular illnesses. We also look at the effects of how men deal with their illness, examining which remedy groups and “men’s remedies” are particularly indicated in such cases.
